Bengaluru

In a continued crackdown on terror activities, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches in over half a dozen locations in city on wednesday. The coordinated raids, conducted in collaboration with the state police force, are part of an ongoing investigation into a terror conspiracy. The NIA teams are focusing on individuals with suspected links to terrorism, operating under the guidance of foreign handlers. The targeted suspects are alleged to have actively participated in various terrorist activities. The raids are still underway, with authorities searching premises for any evidence related to terror plots. This action follows recent NIA operations where 15 individuals associated with ISIS were arrested during widespread raids in Maharashtra and Karnataka. The arrested individuals were part of the ISIS Maharashtra module, involved in plotting and promoting acts of terror. The raids revealed significant amounts of unaccounted cash, weapons, incriminating documents, and digital devices. The ongoing investigation suggests that the accused, operating from Padgha-Borivali in Maharashtra, aimed to disrupt peace and communal harmony in India. The main accused, Saqib Nachan, declared the village of Padgha as a ‘liberated zone’ and administered the oath of allegiance to ISIS to new recruits. ISIS, a Global Terror Organization, has been attempting to establish localized modules in various Indian states. The NIA has been actively working to dismantle these modules and thwart ISIS’s violent agenda in the country. Today’s raids in Bengaluru are part of these concerted efforts to ensure national security and counter terrorist activities.
