KH Muniyappa, the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, emphasized the importance of prioritizing local candidates at the upcoming district-level job fair. Speaking to industry leaders, Muniyappa highlighted that the fair, organized with the district administration, district panchayat, district skill mission, and district industry center, should focus on hiring local qualified individuals.
District Collector Dr. N. Sivashankar reported that the job fair will be held on September 13 at Devanahalli Government First Class College, with 20,000 job seekers expected. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with arrangements for food and water. Companies are encouraged to conduct direct recruitment and provide appointment letters on the spot if suitable candidates are found.
With the expansion of the industrial area following the establishment of the international airport, many local farming families have transitioned away from agriculture. Muniyappa stated that the job fair aims to offer employment opportunities to these families, helping to improve their economic situation.
The minister assured that the government will support industries with essential services such as drinking water and electricity. He also noted that skill training for candidates will be arranged based on industry requirements.
Sarath Kumar Bachegowda, President of Keonics, mentioned that companies should interview about 500 candidates from the registered job seekers and give priority to permanent positions. He suggested updating job vacancies monthly on a Google Sheet to aid job seekers.
