In a concerning incident, the recently completed white topping road near Halasur Lake in Bengaluru collapsed, forming a deep pit of 4 to 5 feet. This development has sparked fears among the public regarding the overall quality of roads in the city. The collapse occurred on Bhaskaran Road near Halasuru Lake, creating a substantial hole that posed a significant risk to vehicular traffic. The local police, upon discovering the pothole, promptly barricaded the area to prevent potential accidents. Residents and motorists have raised complaints about the poor quality of the white topping road, asserting that it collapsed less than a year after completion. They blame shoddy work for the collapse and express concerns about the safety of roads constructed under the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). The incident near Halasur Lake highlights a broader issue with road quality in Bangalore, prompting calls for the government to take strict action to address these concerns. The chief engineer of BBMP, Prahlad, attributed the collapse to a water pipe from Jalmandal passing through the road. He explained that water leakage from the pipe caused the soil to shift, leading to the collapse of the white topping road.
