Cairo

Egypt officially kicks off its presidential election, with voting taking place from December 10 to 12, offering citizens a 12-hour window each day to cast their ballots. Overseas Egyptians already participated in the voting process from December 1 to 3. With more than 9,000 polling stations nationwide, around 67 million eligible voters have the opportunity to choose among four candidates, including the incumbent President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, seeking a third term. Sisi previously secured victory in 2014 and 2018 with overwhelming support. The remaining three contenders are Farid Zahran from the Social Democratic Party, Abdel Sanad Yamama from the Egyptian Al-Wafd Party, and Hazem Omar representing the People’s Republican Party. The final election results are slated to be announced on December 18, unless a run-off becomes necessary.
