An alarming incident unfolded at the Shell petrol station on Bannerghatta Road, sending ripples of concern as a miscreant, disguised as a customer, perpetrated an extortion act against a petrol station employee. The distressing episode occurred around 12:30 pm on Thursday, leaving the victim, Swaraj, a patrol bank employee, in a state of shock. Under the cover of a purported customer, the extortionist exploited the situation, wielding threats and a handgun to coerce Swaraj into surrendering two mobile phones and a sum of ₹4,500 in cash before swiftly making an escape. Prompt action followed as authorities swiftly responded to the complaint, initiating a thorough investigation that involved scrutinizing CCTV footage from the incident site and setting up measures to apprehend the perpetrator. The unsettling incident unfolded during Swaraj’s night shift duty, as a stranger arrived on a two-wheeler late at night, seemingly for a routine petrol refill. However, the situation turned dire when the individual, without settling the dues, brandished a handgun, terrorizing Swaraj, and forcibly took possession of the mobile phones and cash. Swaraj’s call for help went unanswered as the assailant fled before additional staff could intervene, leaving the station in a state of disarray. Acknowledging the severity of the situation, the Mico Layout Police Station swiftly registered a case, initiating a rigorous investigation to track down the culprit and bring justice to the affected employee. As the investigation continues, authorities remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and businesses in the area.
