New Delhi

Following her expulsion from the Lok Sabha over allegations of cash for parliament questions, Trinamool Congress Mahua Moitra criticized the government, asserting that the Ethics Committee lacks the power to expel members. Moitra challenged the basis of her expulsion, emphasizing the absence of evidence and gifts, and stated that sharing the Lok Sabha portal login has no governing rules.  Addressing the media, she anticipated potential harassment from investigative agencies and vowed to fight against the BJP for the next 30 years, both inside and outside Parliament. Moitra accused the BJP of disregarding due process and abusing authority, declaring this as the beginning of the BJP’s end. Opposition MPs, led by CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, staged a walkout in protest of Moitra’s expulsion. The Ethics Committee’s report recommended her expulsion and called for a thorough government inquiry.
