Abel Ferreira, the manager of Palmeiras, has suggested that he is likely to remain with the Brazilian Serie A champions despite earlier uncertainties and reports linking him to Qatar’s Al-Sadd. After leading Palmeiras to their second consecutive Brazilian top-flight title, Ferreira initially mentioned needing time to reflect on his future. However, on Thursday, he appeared to soften his stance, expressing a strong possibility of staying with the club. There is a strong chance that I will stay, Ferreira told reporters. I have a contract, and I’d like to respect it. Reports in the local media had indicated that Ferreira received a lucrative offer from Qatar’s Al-Sadd. Apart from financial considerations, the manager has been critical of the demanding Brazilian football calendar, questioning its impact on players and expressing concerns about motivation. Ferreira, a former Sporting Lisbon right-back, has guided Palmeiras to nine trophies in three years, including back-to-back league titles. While acknowledging the intensity of the past years, he emphasized the need to enjoy the successes and suggested that Palmeiras would remain a significant club regardless of the managerial situation.
