Minister of Women and Child Development, Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and Senior Citizens Lakshmi Hebbalkar assured in Vidhan Parishad on Tuesday that with the approval of the Finance Department, steps will be taken to convert the Hansadhwani school for deaf and dumb children in Bengaluru into a residential school. The Minister was replying to the question of KA Thippeswamy under Rule 72. Additional 12 posts are required in addition to the 20 already sanctioned for conversion into a residential school. In this context, the revised proposal has been accepted, and after approval from the Finance Department and compliance with the rules, action will be taken to convert it into a residential school, the minister said. Our department is a serving department, a department that lays foundation for the lives of the weak. I would like to thank the Chief Minister for giving him the opportunity to handle such a department keeping in mind the concern of the society and many members of this think tank have given good suggestions. The Minister said that he will discuss with the officials, conduct a comprehensive study as soon as possible and discuss with the Chief Minister and take a good decision.
