Las Vegas

A tragic incident unfolded in Las Vegas as at least five homeless individuals were shot, resulting in one fatality, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). The attack occurred around 5:34 p.m. on Friday near Charleston and Honolulu Street. LVMPD Lieutenant Jason Johansson revealed during a press conference that the victims, described as unhoused, were targeted at a homeless encampment with multiple tents. The assailant remains at large, prompting heightened concerns within the community. Responding officers, guided by multiple witnesses, located five individuals with gunshot wounds. Immediate medical aid was administered at the scene, and all five victims were swiftly transported to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, the state’s largest public hospital. Tragically, one man in his 50s succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Three men in their 30s are currently undergoing treatment, with two in stable condition and one in critical condition. The police presence will be maintained at the scene throughout the night to facilitate ongoing investigations. This incident in Las Vegas appears to be unrelated to recent cases in Los Angeles, where three homeless individuals were fatally shot, raising concerns about a potential serial killer. The Los Angeles Police Department revealed that the victims were sleeping alone on a sidewalk or in an alley when the attacks occurred earlier in the week. Authorities in both cities are actively investigating these disturbing incidents.
