In a recent KDP meeting meant for substantial discussions, MLA Sunil Kumar has come under scrutiny for using derogatory language towards a dedicated police officer in the district, causing embarrassment among the local populace, as stated by Ramesh Kanchan, President of the Udupi Block Congress Committee. Kanchan expressed disappointment, emphasizing that such a crucial gathering, attended by the district in-charge minister, MLAs, and high-ranking officials, should have focused on the development of Sunil’s constituency. Instead, Sunil’s behavior was labeled uncivilized, neglecting his responsibility as a representative of the people. Kanchan pointed out Sunil’s past involvement in corruption during the previous BJP government, attributing his downfall to ego and arrogance. Highlighting instances of Sunil’s alleged misconduct, Kanchan cited the installation of a bogus statue during the construction of the Parashurama Theme Park in Karkala, indicating Sunil’s displeasure when officials did not comply with his demands. The Congress leader also accused Sunil of resorting to threats against a senior police officer during the KDP meeting, citing the officer’s refusal to cooperate with his alleged illegal activities. Kanchan drew parallels with past BJP actions, referencing the prohibition of Pramod Muthalik from entering the district during the BJP rule. He questioned the BJP’s response to their party member involved in an incident where a car ran over protesting farmers in Delhi, highlighting perceived inconsistencies in their approach to democracy. In a direct message to Sunil Kumar, Kanchan asserted that, under the current Congress government in Karnataka, they adhere to constitutional principles and engage in peaceful protests without seeking the assistance of officers. He accused the BJP of using intimidation tactics against honest officers during their tenure, contrasting it with the Congress’s commitment to respecting democracy.
