The number of ticket aspirants for the Lok Sabha elections is on the rise. KPCC Coordinator Sharanappa Kotagi said that he wants to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Dharwad constituency as a Congress candidate and he is also a strong ticket aspirant.

Addressing a press conference in the city, he said that he had seen the organisational activities of all the parties in Dharwad West Assembly from close quarters several times in the past. I had earlier tried to get a ticket to contest as a Congress candidate in the assembly elections on the insistence of the voters of the constituency, but withdrew at the last moment at the   behest of the party high command. Even now, I have given in to the strong demands of voters of all religions in Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency and have demanded a Congress ticket this time as a mark of my hard work for the party so far, he said.

Since Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency has a large number of Veerashaiva-Lingayat voters and has good relations with people of all communities, I am sure of winning with the highest margin if I am allowed to contest as a Congress candidate, he said. I have already verbally conveyed my intention to contest from Dharwad-Lok Sabha constituency to the party high command and my confidence has been further boosted as most of the party high command has given their consent, he said.

If given a ticket, I will win by a margin of one lakh votes. I can’t say anything right now about a rebellion if I am not given a ticket, he said. Shantanna Kadiwala, VG Patil, Challamada Shaikh, Ghouse Pinjara and Mohan Hosamani were present.
