Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha has taken legal action by filing a petition in the Delhi High Court against the dismissal order of a trial court regarding a criminal defamation complaint filed by Delhi BJP leader Chhail Bihari Goswami. On November 9, Special Judge MK Nagpal of Rouse Avenue Court had dismissed the appeals filed by AAP leaders Satyendar Jain and Raghav Chadha. Jain is currently in custody in connection with an excise policy case. The judge had affirmed the magisterial court’s order summoning Jain and Chadha as accused in Goswami’s complaint, which accused them of making defamatory remarks concerning the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) funds. Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma, on Monday, directed Chadha’s counsel to submit additional documents and scheduled the next hearing for December 11. Goswami’s complaint alleges that the defamatory remarks were intended to tarnish his moral and intellectual character in the eyes of the general public. The remarks relate to the alleged misappropriation of funds amounting to around Rs 2,400-2,500 crore belonging to North MCD, which is controlled by the BJP.
