The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has given the green light for the fifth session of the 16th Vidhan Sabha, scheduled to convene on November 28-29. The decision was reached during a meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Mann. The session’s agenda will commence with obituary references on November 28, with specific business for the two-day assembly session to be determined shortly by the business advisory committee. Additionally, the Cabinet approved the creation and filling of nine technical cadre positions through direct recruitment at Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Sports University, Patiala. The primary objectives include ensuring uninterrupted canal waters for irrigation, maintaining, repairing, and cleaning canals, drainages, and natural water courses in a timely manner. Furthermore, the bill establishes a fair and transparent mechanism for addressing water users’ grievances and imposes regulatory measures to prevent unnecessary water wastage. This legislative step reflects the government’s commitment to efficient water resource management in Punjab.
