Akshay Kumar warns newcomers about film deals

At the 70th Filmfare Awards, actor Akshay Kumar gave valuable advice to newcomers in the film industry. When host Shah Rukh Khan asked him to share some wisdom, Akshay firmly said, “Never sign a three-movie deal with any producer.”

He explained that such deals can limit a new actor’s freedom. To make his point stronger, he referred to Aryan Khan’s recent directorial, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, which shows the struggles of a debut actor trapped in the industry. Akshay advised everyone to watch the film to understand the risks of long-term contracts.

Pointing playfully at Karan Johar, Akshay joked, “Don’t make newcomers sign three-film deals. Let them be free. If they truly belong, they’ll come back.” His comment made Shah Rukh and Karan burst into laughter.

Akshay also shared his own work philosophy, saying, “No role is too small if the story is good. I always choose films that feel right, even if my part is short.”

He added that discipline is the key to lasting success. “If you stay disciplined, you’ll stay in the industry,” he said.

His words struck a chord with both newcomers and veterans at the event.
