Dasara, Chamundeshwari Procession Without Jumboo Savari

The Vijayadashami procession is celebrated in a traditional manner on the last day of Dasara festival in  city every year. Deputy Commissioner Selvamani  flagged off the Vijayadashami procession by offering puja to the flag in front of Shivappanayaka Palace in the city on Tuesday.  Later, MP BY Raghavendra paid floral tributes to Mother Chamundeshwari near Kote Anjaneya Temple.

This time in the procession, Goddess Chamundeshwari was not paraded on an elephant but was taken away in a vehicle. Every year a jumbo ride was performed on an elephant named Sagar. For this, the exercise was conducted in Sakrebail for the past one week and in city for three days.

Various art troupes including Dollu Kunitha, Veeragase, Chande Maddale, Keelu Kunitha, Gombe Kunitha and others participated,  Sharada idols of the city marched in procession. Sagar and Hemavathi became the centre of attraction for the elephant. Banni Mudivu Tahsildar Nagaraj, MLA Channabasappa, Mayor Shivakumar and other corporators participated in the procession.
