In a surprising turn of events, Mahua Moitra, the Lok Sabha member representing the Krishnanagar constituency for the Trinamool Congress, has openly questioned the Ethics Committee of Parliament’s chairman regarding a leaked affidavit. The affidavit in question was provided by Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani and has raised concerns about potential interference from the BJP. Moitra has demanded a thorough investigation into how this confidential document found its way to various media outlets. She firmly believes that the BJP’s main objective is to silence her in the Lok Sabha, particularly in her criticisms of the Adani Group.

The parliamentarian pointed out the chairman of the Ethics Committee’s alleged interactions with the media, and she called for an immediate inquiry into the leak. Moitra’s message on her official social media handle outlined her concerns and cited Lok Sabha rules.

Moreover, Moitra emphasized that the Prime Minister’s Office exerted undue pressure on businessman Darshan Hiranandani to sign the white paper, which was later leaked to the press. She expressed doubts about the circumstances surrounding the affidavit, noting that Hiranandani has not been summoned by any investigative agency. The document in question, lacking official letterhead or notarization, has raised questions about its authenticity and the circumstances under which it was produced.
