Djokovic And Swiatek To Lead Star-Studded Field At United Cup Mixed Team Event

The United Cup, a new-look mixed team tennis event, is set to feature a star-studded field, with Grand Slam champions Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek headlining the tournament. Scheduled to take place from December 29, 2023, to January 7, 2024, in Perth and Sydney, the event promises to be an exciting showcase of tennis talent. The tournament will see the participation of five of the world’s top 10 women and nine of the world’s top 20 men. The draw for the event is set to be revealed on October 23, according to the tournament organizers. Team Poland, led by four-time major champion Iga Swiatek and the 11th-ranked Hubert Hurkacz, has been named the top seed for the 2024 edition, following the confirmation of entries from the top 16 countries. The second-seeded Greece team will be led by top-10 stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari. Meanwhile, the defending champions, the United States, represented by world No.4 Jessica Pegula and the 10th-ranked Taylor Fritz, have been seeded third. The fourth-seeded France will be led by world No.10 Caroline Garcia and Adrian Mannarino, and the Czech Republic team, featuring Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova and Jiri Lehecka, rounds out the top six seeds. Croatia’s team includes Borna Coric and Donna Vekic. Host nation Australia will be represented by top Australian player Alex de Minaur, who is on the cusp of the top 10, as well as three-time major quarterfinalist Ajla Tomljanovic, doubles stars Storm Hunter, Matt Ebden, Ellen Perez, and former world No.33 John Millman.
