Chairman of Shri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust and Chancellor of Devaraja Urs University GH Nagaraja recalled that late RL Jalappa, who was gifted with integrity and honesty, achieved success in all fields through his wealth of knowledge and helped thousands of families through social service.
He was speaking while inaugurating the 98th birthday and 10th Hospital Day celebrations at the Silver Jubilee Hall of the institution under the auspices of Sri Devaraj Aras Institute of Higher Education and Research.
He said that his birthday is being celebrated as hospital day, and every year in his name, a program should be held to help the society through new inventions.
He described Jalappa as a unique personality who donated food to thousands of families by providing free treatment in a private hospital, free meals to the patients and their helpers.
Dr. DVLN Prasad, Vice Chancellor of Devaraja Arasu Medical University, said that Jalappa, who started the college in 1984, believed that education is the most powerful weapon and was concerned about providing education and facilities to the children of the backward classes.
Jalappa Hospital Medical Superintendent J Krishnappa, said that the hospital is working with the aim of providing quality and low-cost healthcare and has 1125 beds and 330 ICU beds. On this occasion, a commemorative issue brought out in Jalappa’s memory was released.
