It is our responsibility to live as we write, famous poet SG Siddaramaiah said that everyone who writes literature has a social responsibility.On the occasion of Dasara, a Regional Poetry Conference was held on Thursdya, the third day of conference, at the Rani Bahadur Hall in Manasa Gangotri in the city. Inaugurating the programme, he said that none of us are happy in the global environment. If we look within the scope of the entire world, including our own country, we see the proliferation of terror and inhumanity that causes war, from attacks on children to women. Today, there is an environment in which no corner of the world can remain safe. Racial hatred has spread to the whole world today, he said.
Poetry, literature, art have a responsibility which is social responsibility. Literature and art of any language is not limited to language alone. It binds the worldview within the scope of the world. He said that in the present environment we can find the words of the minds who carry social responsibility in the newspapers.
Even those who think they are Jagadgurus are Jagadgurus for their caste and not for the real world. We have a social responsibility to our writing. He said that only if we live by understanding that responsibility, we will have the moral strength and courage to speak.
No politician should ignore art and culture as long as art and culture are kept healthy it will protect our democracy and constitution. Let such an atmosphere be created. He said that Dussehra Poetry Conference should contribute towards spreading the peace of the country.Dr S Vijay Kumari Karikal, Executive President of the Regional Poetry Conference, Dr. HT Pote, a famous poetess, Ch Sarvamangala, Special Officer of the Regional Poetry Conference Sub-Committee Dr. M Dasegowda and Sub-Committee Chairman Mahesh Ambalare and Vice-Presidents Dandinakere Nagaraju, Ravichandran and others were present in the programme.
