Amid much anticipation, the 37th National Games has officially commenced in Goa, albeit ahead of its formal inauguration. The Badminton tournament, which took place on Thursday morning at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, saw the enthusiastic participation of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Sports Minister Govind Gaude, and other distinguished guests.

Scheduled to be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 26 at 6:30 p.m., this landmark sporting event represents a culmination of a decade-long aspiration for the state. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed his optimism for the Games, emphasizing the significant efforts invested in hosting this prestigious event.

This has been a dream nurtured for the past 10 years, and we have dedicated immense resources and energy to ensure the success of this edition of the National Games. It is our fervent hope that this platform will elevate our athletes to shine not just at the national level but also at prestigious international events like the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and the Olympics, stated Sawant.

While Goa is renowned for its picturesque beaches and coastal charm, Sawant emphasized the government’s dedication to fostering a robust sporting culture within the state, striving for recognition not only for its scenic beauty but also for its athletic prowess.
