Hubli

The construction work of the integrated sports complex near Lohia Nagar, in the city is seeing very little progress. The work that was started in 2022 and was supposed to be completed by 2024 is getting delayed. Sports enthusiasts are now worried about the ongoing development work and the undue delay in completing the project.
Akash Lokapur, a resident, said that the government is encouraging children and youths to take part in sports, but Hubballi lacks a sports complex.
There is only Nehru Stadium for sports and only few facilities have been made. So, authorities should complete the work soon, he demanded.
If the construction work is completed, it will be the first sports complex in the North Karnataka region with hi-tech facilities under Khelo India and Hubballi- Dharwad Smart City project. The complex will be built at a cost of Rs 140 crore. All youths will be trained in indoor games and experts will help local youths to shine in sports once it is completed.

Hubli-Dharwad Smart city Project’s Deputy General Manager, D Channabasavaraj told that the sports complex is being developed under Khelo India under which Rs 8 crore is sanctioned and Rs 140 crore is sanctioned under Hubli-Dharwad Smart City Project. Construction work was started in May 2022. We have instructed the contractor to finish the work by June 2024, he stated.
