Farmers Seek Release Of  Rs 25,000 Compensation

Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene demanded the release of Rs 25,000 per acre as compensation immediately as the government has declared the taluk as drought-affected. They submitted a memorandum to Tahsildar. Farmers expressed their ire against the government over various issues. They pointed out that a survey to assess crop loss was not yet conducted and hence SDRF/ NDRF funds were not released. The Insurance Company had assured to release 25 percent as interim relief for crop loss, but farmers are yet to receive it. The district got a mega dairy at Arabagonda village, but the locals are being neglected for various jobs, they said. The Haveri Milk Produce Union has not released encouragement funds to the farmers in the last six months. The Government should address all these issues without any delay, they demanded. Haveri Unit President Dilleppa Mannur, Secretary Shivayogi Hosagoudra and others were present on the occasion.
