Ranga Aradhane Samskrutika Sanghatane of Savadatti has organised a three-day theatre festival in from Friday, in memory of theatre legend Enagi Balappa.
Speaking to the media at Kannada Sahitya Bhavan, Zakir Nadaf, President of Ranga Aradhane Samskrutika Sanghatane said the festival will conclude on October 8. Each day at 6.30 in the evening, one play will be performed at the Kannada Bhavan theatre. These plays will be staged in collaboration with the Directorate of Kannada and Culture, Bengaluru, Department of District Kannada and Culture, Kannada Bhavana Management Board and Ranga Srishti art team, he said.
On October 6, a play titled Soruthihudu Sambandha will be performed by the Sirigere theatre company and is written and directed by Mahanthesh Ramadurg. On October 7, Our old story written and directed by Zakir Nadaf will be performed by Ranga Aradhana. On October 8, the drama Basinga Bala based on a story BY Srinivas Vaidya, written and directed by Zakir Nadaf, will be performed by Ranga Aradhane.
On October 6, eight books of 16 plays written by Zakir Nadaf will be released. Deputy Director of Kannada and Culture Department Vidyavati Bhajantri, Theatre Researcher Basavaraj Jagajampi, Veteran Journalist Sarjoo Katkar and Vinod Ambekar will participate in the inaugural ceremony. Veteran theatre expert BS Gavimath, Playwright DS Chougule along with AL Kulkarni, Ravi Kotharagasti, Ravi Bhajantri, Anand Binge and Baba Saheb Kamble will participate in the event on October 7.The closing ceremony will be held on October 8 and Shirish Joshi, Ramakrishna Marathe, HS Deshpande, Sharan Gowda Patil, Basavaraj Gargi, Gurunath Kadabur will participate. Shrinivas Gadag, Shirish Joshi, Sharanagouda Patil were present.
