Laxmi Hebbalkar, Minister for Women and Child Welfare, said she will cooperate for the development of Sambra airport. However, officials should ensure that it will not create problems for the people of surrounding villages.
She was speaking while participating in a high-level meeting of officials held at the airport, in connection with the demand of additional land by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the airport’s expansion. We have no problem in supporting the development of the airport. However, a lot of farmers have already given their land for the airport. It’s difficult to convince them to acquire more land. No land can be acquired forcefully, and I will not allow such things to happen without taking the farmers into confidence,” Hebbalkar said, suggesting that officials first take farmers into confidence.
District Minister Satish Jarkiholi, Rajya Sabha Member Iranna Kadadi, MLA Asif Sait, MLC Channaraj Hattiholi, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil, Airport Director Thyagarajan, City Police Commissioner Siddaramappa, Superintendent of Police Bhimashankar Guled, City Corporation Commissioner Ashok Dudagunti were present.
