In the aftermath of the Bengaluru bandh, two BJP workers, identified as Yogeesh and Somashekhar, have been apprehended by the police for their involvement in creating chaos at a hotel during the bandh. The bandh, observed to protest the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, led to incidents of public disruption and law enforcement measures to maintain peace. A group of eight individuals, including the arrested duo, forcibly entered a hotel and vandalized the premises, shattering glass and damaging furniture after finding it open during the bandh. Police have linked this same group to allegations of stone-pelting at four other locations during the bandh. Four cases related to these incidents have been registered, and investigations are currently underway. Efforts to identify and apprehend the other individuals involved in the case are ongoing. It’s worth noting that one of the arrested individuals is a BJP MLA from Bengaluru’s Jayanagar Constituency, A. Ramamurthy’s associate. The group’s actions targeted Hotel Udupi Hub for remaining open during the bandh, prompting law enforcement to take action against them. Prior to these arrests, two individuals had already been detained in connection with the same incident. Former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa had issued a stern warning to hotel owners, stating that they would be held accountable if law and order deteriorated during the Bengaluru bandh. To maintain peace and order during the bandh, over 10,000 policemen were deployed, and as a precautionary measure, Bangalore city police confirmed the detainment of approximately 1,000 protesters. Law enforcement agencies have been vigilant in their efforts to ensure public safety and the enforcement of law and order during such events.
