A choreographer in Bengaluru, identified as Hasan Rahman (25), has found himself in a predicament after his 100th traffic violation, captured in a viral video, led to police action. Rahman, a resident of Bilekahalli and the owner of a dance studio in the second phase of BTM, has accumulated 99 previous traffic violations, but it was the 100th incident that drew widespread attention on social networking site X. The viral video showcased Rahman’s dangerous riding as he recklessly traveled in the opposite direction near the Vega City Junction on Bannerghatta Road, endangering both himself and fellow commuters. The footage, apparently recorded by a car’s dashcam, quickly gained traction online. In response to this alarming incident, authorities took swift action. The police seized Rahman’s scooter and imposed a hefty fine of Rs. 56,000 for his repeated traffic violations. Rahman has been granted a two-month period to settle the fine; failure to do so within the stipulated time will result in the auctioning of his vehicle, which is currently valued at Rs. 15,000. Rahman’s list of traffic violations includes 54 cases of driving without a helmet, 34 cases of defective number plates, five cases of using a mobile phone while driving, three cases of disregarding no-entry signs, and three cases of improper parking, including parking at zebra crossings and triple riding. Furthermore, the police have recommended the suspension of Rahman’s driving license in light of his reckless behavior. A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Indian Motor Vehicle (IMV) Act at the Mico Layout Police Station, highlighting the severity of the matter and the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations.
