Aim was to encourage people on the concept of blood donation and to cater to the need of blood requirement in NAMMA MYSURU!

Blood is very essential and frequently required for various procedures and instances in the hospital. It plays a vital role in case of severe loss of blood during accidents, injury, blood disorders like cancer, fewer blood cells, organ transplantation, and surgeries. Every month hospital requires 100’s of units of packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma, and platelets. As blood can only be donated and not manufactured, bridging the gap between donor and recipient was of utmost importance. The hospital diligently handled it by organising a blood donation camp on this world health day. This success led to the satisfactory accumulation of donated blood, saving numerous lives.

More people actively participated in the program as the centers were at their convenience. The process went on smoothly as the doctors and paramedic team were ensuring the safety of the people and guided them through the process.

The Centre Head of Forum City Centre Mall, Dhanasekaran Ramachandran was overwhelmed to be part of organising a blood donation camp and said, “blood donation is the noble act of saving numerous unknown lives” and encouraged more people to participate.

“The blood donated is regenerated in the body within 4-8 weeks, and it not only saves lives but also improves the health of the donor, many people voluntarily came forward and donated blood successfully, fulfilling the objective of organising the program.”, said Dr. Gautam Das, Hospital Director, Manipal Hospital Mysuru and created an awareness of the health benefits of donating blood.

Pandemic had left much scepticism about blood donation.  Many people post 14 days of Covid with no symptoms were eligible to donate blood. People donated blood with satisfaction and also encouraged others to do the same. Around 251 people donated blood at the camp. Fruits and juice were provided to replenish the lost fluid from the body and avoid dizziness, said Girish, Managing Director Jeevadhara Blood Bank

This noble act of blood donation in Namma Mysuru connected unknown lives by the bond of blood. The hospital always comes forward with a unique way of enhancing health and connecting people through the strings of humanity, said Deepika, an engineering student from town who donated blood at Manipal Hospital Mysuru.
