The alliance talks between the BJP and the JD(S) for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections have reached a crucial stage. The tussle between the two parties has already started upsetting the sitting MPs and leaders in the BJP. Many anti-JD(S) leaders are facing a tough time.

Sitting MPs from old Mysuru region and aspirants eyeing lok sabha election tickets fear that they may lose the BJP ticket due to alliance talks. Sumalatha Ambareesh, who is seeking a BJP ticket in Mandya, former MP Muddu Hanumegowda, who is seeking a BJP ticket in Tumakuru, former MLAs AT Ramaswamy and Preetham Gowda, who are preparing to contest against the Gowda family in Hassan, former minister Dr. K Sudhakar in Chikkaballapura, Muniswamy in Kolar, former minister CP Yogeshwar, who is seeking a BJP ticket in Bengaluru Rural, are among the leaders who are worried.

If there is a pre-poll alliance between the BJP and the JD(S), there are apprehensions among other leaders besides those who are aspiring to get tickets for the parliamentary elections. Some leaders, including former ministers and sitting MLA ST Somashekar and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. C Ashwath Narayan, are facing embarrassment due to their alliance with the JD(S). All of them were attacking the JD(S). If the party high command decides on an alliance, the anti-JD(S) leaders will have to take a decision on their next political move.

MLA ST Somashekar, who is said to be ready to step in with the Congress party, said the BJP’s alliance with the JD(S) will be a hot topic for him. In Yeshwanthpur, MLA Somashekar contested against the JD(S) candidate. Now, it is learnt that he is worried about his next political move if he suddenly forges an alliance with the Janata Dal (Secular).
