Ratan Tata, an Indian businessman and philanthropist, was honored on Thursday at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) after his death on October 9 at age 86. During a visit to Goa, Tata adopted a stray dog named Goa, who was rescued while he was on a picnic.
Goa became part of Tata’s family for over eleven years. The dog’s caretaker explained that security guards had brought Goa from Goa when Tata was visiting.
Tata had shared on Instagram how a stray dog began following him in Goa, leading to his decision to adopt the dog and take him to Mumbai. At Bombay House, the headquarters of the Tata Group, Tata provided shelter for Goa and other strays.
After Tata’s death, the Maharashtra and Gujarat governments announced a day of mourning, with national flags lowered in tribute to a leader who made significant contributions to India.
