The Kannada Jyoti Ratha, which carries the Kannada torch, is set to traverse the district on October 19 and 20 as part of the 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana to be held in Mandya.
The Kannada Jyoti chariot is scheduled to reach Siruguppa taluk on October 19, before proceeding to Vijayanagara district via Kurugodu, Ballari, Sandur, and Kampli Taluks, according to the schedule. In addition to facilitating the smooth movement of the chariot across the respective taluks, it was essential to provide a respectful farewell at the borders, remarked Assistant Commissioner Pramod. He called for the taluk administration, District Sahitya Parishat and local officials, along with heads of related organisations and educational institutions, to hold an initial meeting aimed at organising the Kannada Jyoti Rathyatra effectively. He instructed them to work together and implement actions that would contribute to the event’s success.
The meeting was attended by office bearers of various Kannada organisations who provided suggestions, along with B Nagaraj, Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture department, Tahsildar Gausia, and officials from various departments at the district level.
