MLA Shamanur Shivashankarappa said that he is a Lingayat religion. Speaking to media persons after having darshan of Lord Sitarama Anjaneya at Fort Seetharama Anjaneya in the city, he said, What religion are we and ours is Lingayat religion.
On the issue of holding a rally in Ballari for reservation, he said, What is happening in Ballari is not a convention, it is a programme to felicitate the elders. The demand for reservation has been there since the beginning. We will ask the government to give OBC reservation, he said. On the BJP’s alliance with the JD(S), he said there was no need to worry about it. On the ongoing debate on renaming India as India, Hegde said, India is just like we say Veerashaiva, Lingayat. KPCC Secretary HC Yogesh, Congress leaders SP Dinesh and Nagaraj and District Congress leaders were present.
