Belagavi
 A soldier serving in the Indian Army was killed in a road accident in Chikkodi   late on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Laxman Ghorpade (24), a resident of Nadi-Ingalagaon village in Athani taluk of the district. He had come to his native village for a vacation last week and had gone on a two-wheeler trip with his relative Satish Ghorpade. The accident took place on Gokak Athani Road near Harugeri in Rayabag taluk when the bike lost control while returning home from a tour. While soldier Laxman Ghorpade died on the spot, pillion rider Satish sustained serious injuries. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Maharashtra.
