The Soraba Lions club completes 50 years, the Club’s Jubilee event will be held at the Soraba Conviction hall on 10th of April at 10.30 in the morning, said Former District Governor HS Manjappa.
Addressing a preliminary meeting at the IB, he said that it is a joy to celebrate 50 years of the Lions Club which started here. Over the period of 50 years, the club’s performance has been substantial, such as hospitality to the SSLC students who used to come from other places, free medical camps, eye camps, felicitations for retired and award-winning teachers, meals for the poor people, information workshop in rural areas
In 1982 for the benefit of the public, a Kalyana Manatapa has been buily, we have the plan of demonishing it and building of new one. In 1989, a kindergarten had started and with time it is upgraded to a higher primary school and recently it came under Government grant.
On the occasion of the club’s 40th anniversary in 2012, a donor from Gurgaon donated an ECG machine to the club and with the cooperation of the Bangalore’s Narayana Hrudayalaya, it is started in Dr MK Bhatt’s Jai Mata Clinic and one can receive report from Narayana Hridayalaya within a few minutes for a minimal fee.
The founding member of this club, HS Manjapa, has been elected as the Governor of the district and Dr MK Bhatt as the Vice-Governor and will be the District Governor next year.
As part of the Golden Jubilee, former President HS Manjappa, Ashokanaik, Dr MK Bhat, B Gopalappa, Shivakumar C, Shivaram Kanchi, Sudhakara Naik, MS Amruthraj, Dinakara Bhave, M Nagappa, K Nagaraja Goudru, H M Pratima, Pratibha Gokhale, Bandige Basavaraj Shet, Mahesh Patel, Rajashekhara Gowda, K Shivananda and TR Suresh will be honored at the event and 25 financially disadvantaged beneficiaries will be given a sewing machine, 50 gas geezers for schools, 5000 notebooks and 2 wheelchairs will be distributed.
International Director K Vamshidhara Babu will be the chief guest while former International Director VVK Reddy will start the service works. Multiple District Chairman CV Bhanumoorthy Reddy will release the memorial and Dr MK Butt will be releasing the golden jubilee logo.
HM Pratima, MS Amruthraj, TR Suresh, K Shivananda, Pratibha Gokhale, Bharati Hanumanthappa, Prabhakar Gokhale and Venkatesha were present.
