The Indian Men’s Hockey Team is set to take on arch-rivals Pakistan in the final of the inaugural Men’s Hockey 5s Asia Cup 2023. India secured their place in the final with a convincing 10-4 victory over Malaysia in the semifinals. Pakistan also reached the final by defeating Oman 7-3 in their semifinal match. In their previous encounter in the tournament’s Elite pool stage, Pakistan narrowly won 5-4 against India. During the semifinal against Malaysia, India’s goals were scored by Mohammed Raheel (9′, 16′, 24′, 28′), Maninder Singh (2′), Pawan Rajbhar (13′), Sukhvinder (21′), Dipsan Tirkey (22′), Jugraj Singh (23′), and Gurjot Singh (29′). Malaysia’s goals were netted by Captain Ismail Abu (4′), Akhimullah Anuar (7′, 19′), and Muhamad Din (19′). This victory not only secured India’s place in the Asia Cup final but also guaranteed them a spot in the 2024 FIH Hockey 5s World Cup.
