Activists of Karnataka Navanirman Sena (KNS) staged a protest and submitted a memorandum to the  Municipal Commissioner demanding the immediate dismissal of pourakarmikas from Maharashtra who were appointed to the  Municipal Corporation.

There are a lot of pourakarmikas in  Corporation limits. The protesters alleged that the appointment of Maharashtra-based pourakarmikas at the instigation of some BJP members was not right.

Pourakarmikas from Kowada in Maharashtra have been appointed in the Corporation. Who brought them here and how many sanitation workers from Maharashtra are there should be sacked immediately and locals should be recruited. The relatives of the members are the supervisors in the corporation. On their merit and on what basis they have been appointed. This should be thoroughly investigated and Kannadigas should be given first priority in the corporation. Otherwise, we will have to fight a fierce battle in the coming days, warned Karnataka Navanirman Sena District President Baba Sangodi.

Municipal Commissioner Ashok Dudagunti said, I have asked the health department officials to conduct an inquiry into the pourakarmikas employed on contract basis by those from Maharashtra and submit a report within three days. Once the report is received, we will take action without any hesitation, he said.Santosh Gubachi, Ravi Sakhe, Basavaraj Dodamani, Sagar Sambagara, Rohit Anagolkar, Omkara Karavinakoppa, Kamlesh Choudhary and others participated in the protest.
