Lokayukta officials made a surprise visit to the Sub-Registrar’s office here and examined the documents. Following several complaints from the public, officials led by Lokayukta SP Hanumantha Rai visited the Registration and Stamps Department in the south constituency and inspected it.
The registration officers have been instructed not to allow the purchase of property in the name of benami. A complaint should be lodged against those who come to buy property in the name of benami. The SP instructed the officials to register only after verifying the actual details of the owners.
Lokayukta officials reviewed the online registration process. Recently, the Government has empowered the Sub-Registrar to verify the records of the parties registering the property on the genuineness of their documents.From now on, those who sell property by creating fake documents will have the power to file criminal cases. Since Cauvery-II is generated, there is no scope for illegality. The Lokayukta officials directed the registration officers to strictly follow this rule. Lokayukta DSP Raghu, DSP BS Patil, Inspector Niranjan Patil and others were present.
