KSRTC Bus Depot Staff Attempts Suicide

Following allegations of harassment by a KSRTC Manager, an employee attempted suicide at a bus depot in front of the Depot Manager and Divisional Controller.  The employee has been identified as Abhishek (27), a Junior Assistant.

Abhishek, who had a fight with the KSRTC Manager and the Divisional Controller on Tuesday evening, allegedly attempted suicide at the depot on Wednesday,  was rushed to the city’s District Hospital.

The Divisional Controller of Puttur division and Manager of the Depot were transferred recently but were not relieved. Abhishek had written a letter to the Manager of the Head Office at Bengaluru before attempting suicide. In his letter, Abhishek has mentioned that the Manager and the Divisional Controller  are constantly harassing him. He mentioned in the letter that both of them were directly responsible for his suicide.

 My son was harassed in Puttur. From there, he was shifted to Madikeri depot, even then, there was harassment like in Puttur which continued the moment he came to Madikeri. My son has been working here for the last three years. He has been harassed in recent times. He was still working even after 12 o’clock in the night. Abhishek’s mother alleged that he tried to commit suicide because of this. A letter written by Abhishek, who attempted suicide, has also been found. It was written in the annual review report as unsatisfactory.  A notice was also issued to Abhishek in this regard. It is learnt that he tried to commit suicide owing to this. Abhishek is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU and the condition of KSRTC staff is critical. A case has been registered at the Police station and are investigating the matter.
