Mangaluru
The half marathon, as part of the Mangaluru Dasara celebrations, themed One City, One Spirit, saw an overwhelming response in the 21km, 10km run, and 5km fun run. The event, hosted by Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple in collaboration with Zeus Fitness Club and Decathlon, attracted over 2,000 participants, including senior citizens and children, who took part with great enthusiasm.
In the 10km men’s race, Ranganna Naikar from Mangaluru claimed first place with a time of 33:53 minutes, followed closely by SN Sridhar from Bengaluru at 33:55 minutes in second place, and H Govindaraja from Bengaluru at 35:15 minutes.
In the women’s 10km race, DR Smitha secured first place, finishing in 41:09 minutes, while R Usha from Mysuru stood second at 42:01 minutes, and Priyanka Maruti finished at 44:48 minutes. The 21km half marathon men’s category saw Shivananda Chigari from Belagavi win with a time of 1:12:07, followed by R Purushotham from Haveri at 1:13:28, and Sachin Nandu from Mysuru at 1:14:13. In the women’s half marathon, TP Asha from Kerala won with a time of 1:30:20, while C Priyanka from Bengaluru finished second at 1:35:18, and KM Archana from Mysuru at 1:36:14.
The event was inaugurated by MLC Manjunath Bhandary, along with Kudroli temple committee general Tecretary Madhav Suvarna, Treasurer R Padmaraj and other dignitaries.
