Leopard Disturbing Sleep Of Villagers Captured

A leopard, which had been harassing the villagers for the past few days, fell into a cage kept by the Forest Department at Doddavaddaragudi village in KR Nagar taluk. Forest Department’s Range Forest Officer MR Rashmi and Deputy Range Forest Officer Kumar had launched an operation to capture the leopard from yesterday night. They managed to capture two cubs left behind in a sugarcane field and a collar camera on the spot.

For the past one month, the leopard menace has increased within the protected forest area. The leopard had killed goats, sheep and cows at many places including Kaval Hosur, Batiganahalli, Bherya, Geradada, Munjanahalli, Haramballi Hosa Agrahara, Doddavaddaragudi village and many other places. The villagers had urged the forest department to capture the leopard.A few days ago, two cubs of a leopard were found in the sugarcane field of a farmer in Doddavaddaragudi village. Range Forest Officer MR Rashmi’s team held discussions with the forest department chiefs and higher officials to capture the leopard and placed the cubs in a cage at the spot and installed a collar camera to monitor the movement of the leopard. Last night, the leopard came in search of its cubs and fell into the cage.  MR Rashmi said that the captured leopard will be released to Nagarahole Sanctuary.
