Griha Lakshmi Yojana, which is being implemented for the empowerment of women, is being inaugurated on August 30 at the Maharaja College Grounds with a grand ceremony. Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Minister of Women and Child Welfare, said that Rs 2,000 will be deposited in the bank accounts of crores of women at the same time.
Speaking after participating in the preparatory meeting of the project on Sunday, the Minister said that AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will participate in the event to be held that day.
Around one and a half lakh beneficiaries from Mysore, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts will participate. The Minister explained that local MLAs and officials will take full responsibility.
The Minister said that the ceremony is being held in the chief minister’s hometown under the guidance of District in-charge Minister HC Mahadevappa.Minister of Social Welfare Department and District In-charge Dr. HC Mahadevappa, MLAs D. Ravishankar, Harish Gowda, Darshan Dhruva Narayan, Deputy Commissioner KV Rajendra, Mandya District Deputy Commissioner Kumar and senior officials of Women and Child Welfare Department were present.
