As the tomato price lowered, the price of Tyson chicken has soared. The price of Tyson chicken is increased by Rs 70-80.
In Mangaluru, the rate of Tyson chicken which was at Rs 160 to Rs 180 shot up to Rs 260 per kilo. However, the broiler chicken rate remains the same at Rs 160 per kilo.
The poultry dealers say that there is great demand for Tyson chicks. Hence, they are used for laying eggs and making chicks rather than for meat. That is why the Tyson chicken that is sent to market for meat is reduced considerably. Egg rate is stable at Rs 5.40.
In Udupi, the rate of chicken with skin was Rs 215 and without skin was Rs 245. Egg is sold at Rs six apiece.
