Getting permission to build a house in the tech capital is about to become much faster and easier for ordinary families. The state government has officially launched an advanced digital platform named Nambike Nakshe 2.0 to eliminate months of frustrating bureaucratic delays and paperwork.
Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda unveiled the automated system following specific directives from Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. The software is custom-built to handle residential plot approvals measuring up to fifty by eighty feet, successfully permitting the construction of up to four separate residential units on a single property.
Under the previous system, citizens frequently endured agonizing wait times lasting two to three months just to secure basic building permits. The newly updated digital framework completely transforms this experience. Qualified architects can now upload residential plans directly through an online portal. If the submitted blueprints strictly comply with all local town planning regulations, the automated system grants formal building approval in roughly thirty minutes.
To make the process even smoother, the government has removed the tedious requirement of manually uploading bulky property documents like Khata certificates. Property owners simply need to enter their official e-Khata number, and the digital platform instantly retrieves all original ownership records on its own.
Officials emphasized that this fully automated, paperless workflow is designed to stop middlemen and agents from exploiting uninformed citizens. By removing human discretion from initial reviews, the administration aims to build a clean, transparent, and completely citizen-friendly process.
During the initial phase, authorities are rolling out Nambike Nakshe 2.0 as a pilot project in select urban zones. Once engineers evaluate its real-world performance and smooth out initial bugs, the government plans to expand the rapid approval framework across all remaining regions under the Greater Bengaluru Authority. Furthermore, planning is already underway to design similar technology-driven approval systems for commercial buildings and large-scale real estate projects in the near future.
Even though the system relies on mutual trust between the administration, citizens, and licensed professionals, municipal leaders issued a stern warning. Strict legal penalties and heavy fines will be enforced immediately against anyone caught attempting to bypass regulations or misuse the digital platform. High-ranking municipal officers attended the launch.
