The Karnataka government has requested the Finance Department to release pending funds for the Anugraha Scheme, which supports farmers and shepherds involved in dairy, sheep and goat farming across the state. The scheme was introduced during 2013-18, under former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s leadership to strengthen rural livelihoods.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara said the scheme was revived in 2023, under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to protect the interests of farming communities. Since 2023, the government has released ₹134 crore and spent the amount for the scheme. Another ₹97.57 crore remains pending, and a letter has been sent to the Finance Department requesting quick release of the grant.
Under the scheme, compensation has been provided for thousands of animals that died accidentally in recent years. Officials said ₹14.93 crore was distributed for 30,705 sheep and goats in 2023-24, while further assistance was given for livestock losses in later years. Compensation was also provided for cows, buffaloes and other large cattle affected by deaths during different financial periods. The scheme has helped many animal owners recover from unexpected losses.
Farmers have requested immediate release of the remaining funds to receive pending compensation under the Anugraha Scheme. The government said the support is important for families depending on animal husbandry along with agriculture. Authorities are expected to process the request and ensure that eligible beneficiaries get assistance without delay.
The initiative aims to provide financial security to farmers and strengthen rural livelihoods across Karnataka. Officials hope the continued support will encourage livestock farming and improve the economic condition of farmers.
