A police sub-inspector posted at Manki Police Station in Honnavar taluk was arrested after a case was registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The arrest has shocked people across Uttara Kannada district.
According to police sources, PSI Abhinandan was accused of sexually harassing a minor girl from Yellapur. The girl later approached Bhatkal City Police Station and filed an official complaint. After receiving the complaint, officers began an investigation and questioned the accused in detail. Based on the findings during the inquiry, Bhatkal City Police arrested the officer and started further legal proceedings. The case has drawn public attention because the accused was a police officer expected to protect people and uphold the law. Many residents expressed concern over the incident and demanded strict action.
