Chief Executive Officer of Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat, Dr. Dileesh Shashi, explained the Special Intensive Revision of Voters 2026 (SIR) to children in a simple and easy way during a public awareness chess competition held on Sunday. The event was organised by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, and the District SWEEP Committee.

Dr. Shashi said the voter revision drive aims to prepare a correct and complete voter list so that every eligible citizen gets the right to vote. He explained what SIR is, why it is important, how it is being carried out, and how it will benefit people. He encouraged children to understand the process because they are the future citizens of the country.

He asked students to share the information with their parents, neighbours, and relatives. He also told them to clear any confusion about the voter revision process and support the awareness campaign. He said many public programmes are being organised to spread awareness, and everyone should actively participate to make the drive successful.

A total of 33 students took part in the chess competition. Organisers announced that winners would receive prizes and certificates during a programme on July 28. Several district and taluk officials, education department officers, parents, students, and members of the public attended the event, making it a meaningful awareness programme for everyone.
