Top firms gain Rs 2.15 lakh crore value

India’s leading listed companies witnessed a sharp rise in market capitalisation last week, with nine of the country’s 10 most-valued firms collectively adding over Rs 2.15 lakh crore in investor wealth. The rally was driven by strong gains in domestic equity markets, supported by improving global risk sentiment and renewed investor confidence.

Among the top gainers, Bharti Airtel recorded the largest increase in market value. The telecom major added Rs 52,432.67 crore, taking its total market capitalisation to Rs 11.63 lakh crore.

State-owned insurer Life Insurance Corporation of India emerged as the second-biggest gainer, with its valuation rising by Rs 51,675.23 crore to Rs 5.57 lakh crore.

Non-banking finance giant Bajaj Finance saw its market capitalisation increase by Rs 26,553.71 crore, reaching Rs 5.99 lakh crore. Engineering and infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro added Rs 21,929.12 crore, pushing its valuation to Rs 5.79 lakh crore.

Among banking stocks, State Bank of India gained Rs 16,753.57 crore, taking its market value to Rs 9.55 lakh crore. Meanwhile, HDFC Bank added Rs 11,948.72 crore to reach a valuation of Rs 12.01 lakh crore. Consumer goods major Hindustan Unilever Limited gained Rs 6,661.10 crore, while ICICI Bank added Rs 4,724.22 crore during the week.

In contrast, Tata Consultancy Services was the only company among the top-10 most-valued firms to witness a decline. Its market capitalisation fell by Rs 12,699.49 crore to Rs 7.69 lakh crore, reflecting continued weakness in technology stocks after a cautious outlook from Accenture.

The broader market also remained strong, with the benchmark BSE Sensex rising more than 1,200 points, or 1.68 per cent, while the Nifty 50 gained nearly 400 points, or 1.65 per cent, ending the week at 24,013.10.
