Pavagada
Lightning struck an areca plantation in Y.N. Hosakote taluk, causing damage to coconut and areca crops. The strike hit the top of a large coconut tree in the field of H.M. Maranna in survey number 72/1 at Hosadurga village. The upper branches of the tree were burnt, and nearby around 20 harvested areca trees were uprooted and bent due to the impact. Revenue Department village accountant Gurukishore visited the spot and inspected the damage. He submitted a report to higher authorities for further assessment and possible compensation consideration under relief measures.
