Khuba urges Bakrid peace, communal harmony, urges respect for sentiments amid concerns over slaughter and rising tensions
Bidar
Former Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and senior BJP leader Bhagwanth Khuba has appealed to people to celebrate Bakrid peacefully while maintaining communal harmony and respecting the sentiments of all communities.
Speaking in Bidar ahead of the festival, Khuba said that concerns have been raised in several parts of the country regarding animal slaughter during Bakrid, particularly cow slaughter, which is opposed by a section of the Hindu community. He noted that some Muslim organisations have reportedly decided to avoid animal slaughter, especially cow slaughter, and described it as a positive step towards peace and social harmony.
He urged members of the Muslim community to celebrate Bakrid with devotion and enthusiasm while ensuring that no practices hurt the religious sentiments of others. Emphasising India’s diversity, he said the country is home to people of all religions, and mutual respect is essential for maintaining unity and peace.
Khuba called upon all communities to uphold brotherhood and ensure that the festival is observed in a calm and harmonious atmosphere. He stressed that communal harmony must be protected through understanding and restraint during sensitive occasions.
Separately, Khuba also commented on political and economic issues in the state. He said the visit of BJP National President N. Nabin to Karnataka is aimed at strengthening the party organisation and reviewing its grassroots structure. He added that such visits help improve coordination between party leaders and workers and boost organisational efficiency.
On fuel prices, Khuba stated that the recent hike in petrol and diesel rates was unavoidable due to global conditions. He urged the Karnataka government to reduce state taxes to ease the burden on citizens. He also criticised the state government over rising prices of commodities and raised concerns about potential fertilizer shortages, assuring that the Centre is taking steps to address the issue.
Khuba concluded by appealing for cooperation from farmers and the public, saying the government is working to maintain stability despite international economic challenges.
