Food department officials conducted surprise raids on hotels and tea stalls in Bhalki town, seizing 43 domestic LPG cylinders that were allegedly being used illegally for commercial purposes.

The operation was carried out following complaints from the public that several establishments were using household LPG cylinders instead of authorised commercial gas connections. Officials inspected multiple hotels and tea points across the town to verify compliance with safety and regulatory norms.

During the inspections, officials found a large number of domestic cylinders being used for commercial cooking activities, which is a violation of LPG distribution rules. The cylinders were immediately confiscated by the enforcement team as part of the crackdown.

Authorities said the misuse of domestic LPG cylinders not only violates regulations but also poses serious safety risks, as these cylinders are not designed for high-volume commercial use. The department has indicated that further action will be taken against violators after detailed verification.

The raid was conducted in the presence of Food Inspector Amar Patil, Food Shirastedar Parameshwar, Municipal Chief Officer Sangamesh Karabari, Town Police Station CPI Amaresh B, and officials from the Taluk Panchayat, ensuring coordinated enforcement across departments.

Officials added that similar inspections will continue in the coming days to prevent illegal usage of domestic cylinders and ensure compliance with safety standards in food establishments.

The crackdown has sent a strong message to hotel and tea stall operators in the region, with authorities warning that strict penalties will be imposed on those found violating LPG usage regulations. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to regulate fuel usage and improve safety in commercial food establishments.
