Textile expansion
New Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the PM MITRA Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Telangana’s Warangal on May 10, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy announced on Saturday.
The textile park, spread across 1,327 acres, will be inaugurated virtually from Hyderabad and is expected to become one of India’s biggest textile manufacturing hubs.
The project has been developed under the PM MITRA scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 1,695.54 crore. Officials said investments in the park are expected to cross Rs 6,000 crore, while projects worth over Rs 3,800 crore have already started operations or construction activities.
According to the minister, nearly 62% of the park area has already been allotted to major investors. Basic infrastructure including roads, water pipelines and street lighting has been completed. Important facilities like the 232/132/33 KV power substation and the 220 KV transmission line are also nearing completion.
Officials added that a 12 million litres per day water supply system is in the final stage of development. Phase One of the common effluent treatment plant with zero liquid discharge technology is currently under trial operations.
The textile park follows the Centre’s ‘5F’ vision covering farm to fibre, fibre to factory, factory to fashion and fashion to foreign markets. The project is expected to improve the entire textile production chain and increase exports from India.
The textile park may create over 24,400 jobs, with 2,000 already generated. The Centre has approved PM MITRA parks in seven states and plans more mega textile parks nationwide.
